For our video, we decided to evaluate which shots we would be filming and what they would include. Due to the nature of our video, we have decided to only plan the opening and closing scenes of our video, this is because we hope that the shots for the surreal elements of the film will come to us whilst we are filming, and not stifle our creativity before we leave to begin filming.
Opening
- Extreme Close up of performers eye (00:00-00:04)
- Slow zoom out to reveal whole room, long shot of performer (00:04-00:10)
- Various Mid-Long shot of other characters dancing (00:10-00:25)
- Slow zoom in to extreme close up of eye, eyes close (00:25-00:38)
- Eyes Open, extreme close up (00:38-00:40)
- POV shot of character examining surroundings (00:40-00:44)
- Establishing shot to show characters location has changed (00:44-00:52)
- Canted angle shots of character exploring (00:52-00:58)
- POV shot of character experiencing surreal imagery. (00:58-01:05)
The middle of our song will consist of abstract shots, strange colours and environments, and our performer will encounter strange situations. We have decided not to make a shot list for this section as we believe we will film better shots if we are unrestricted in our ideas.
Closing
- Low angle wide-shot of character walking up garden path (03:06-03:10)
- POV shot of character walking into same room as start. (03:10-03:14)
- Faded shot of character sat down, clear shot of character "sitting into himself" (03:14-03:20)
- Opens eyes, slow zoom out, establishing room from beginning (03:20-03:28)
Initial Story Board
Here you can see that we have put our ideas onto paper and created a short storyboard using the main shots from our shot list. Again we have left a small part of the middle section out of our planning as we want to be creative and bring more original ideas when filming. This will add to the whole surreal effect. Instead of displaying every picture drawn seperatley, we decided to create an animatic so it doesnt take enough space. In between each image we have added a video transition to make it seem like its a flicker book.
